Three girls, including a five-year-old girl, drowned after falling into a well in Simaliya village in Panchmahal district of Godhra, Gujarat. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

He told that the incident happened on Tuesday.

An official from Damavav police station said the three girls, living in the same village in Ghoghamba taluka of the district, had gone together to graze cattle in the forest area when the incident occurred.

"When one of the girls went to quench her thirst at a well located in the field, she lost her balance and fell into the well. Two other girls ran towards the well to save her, but they also lost balance and fell into the well. As a result, all three girls drowned,” the police officer said.

Meanwhile, when the minors did not return home till late evening, their family members started searching for them and later found their bodies in the well, police said.

He said that the bodies were taken out and sent to the local government hospital for post-mortem. A report of accidental death was registered at Damavav police station early on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Kirti (5), Saraswati (10) and Lalita (12).
