Lucknow: A large number of people on Monday offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at several mosques in the city, including Aishbagh Eidgah, where they also prayed for relief from the scorching heat.

Idgah's Maulvi Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali said that more than 1.5 lakh devotees offered special namaz on this occasion.

Mahali said, after the namaz, prayers were offered for relief from the scorching heat.

He also highlighted the need to protect the environment and encouraged people to plant trees.

On this occasion, special prayers were also offered at Teele Wali Masjid, Nadwa Masjid and Jama Masjid in Lalbagh areas of the state capital.

Devotees also gathered in large numbers at a mosque in Ayodhya and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the country.

In Saharanpur, a large number of devotees gathered at Deoband Madrasa to celebrate the occasion.
