Kolkata: Thousands of people were expected to take to the streets of West Bengal on Sunday as various protests including another 'Reclaim the Night' protest took place demanding justice for the doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical. There were going to be demonstrations. College and hospital a month ago.

The body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was found in a government hospital in North Kolkata on the morning of August 9.

Social activist Rimjhim Sinha said well-known people from various fields, including musicians, artists, painters and actors, will join the 'Reclaim the Night' demonstration, which will start at 11 pm, to 'wake up the ruler'.

As part of the demonstration, people will gather at various intersections, intersections and roundabouts. One of the organizers said several rallies will be held from Gol Park to Garia on SC Mallick Road in south Kolkata, while a march has been planned from Sodepur to Shyambazar on BT Road in the north.

Apart from Kolkata, similar protests were also planned in Barrackpore, Barasat, Bajaj, Belgharia, Agarpara, Dumdum and Baguiati.

'Reclaim the Night' protests were earlier held on August 14 and September 4, demanding justice for the doctor whose death had shocked the conscience of the state.

In the afternoon, alumni of 44 schools will take out a protest march from Gariahat to Rash Behari Avenue in South Kolkata.

Several similar demonstrations were also planned by various social groups in different parts of the state during the day.

A civic volunteer of Kolkata Police has been arrested in the case of the doctor's death. Following the order of Calcutta High Court, this case is currently being investigated by CBI.
