New Delhi: Defense Secretary Giridhar Armane on Tuesday said the killing of five army personnel in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district will not be avenged and India will defeat the evil forces behind it.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep grief over the killing of the soldiers and said the armed forces were committed to maintaining peace in the region.

On Monday, a group of heavily armed terrorists ambushed a patrolling party in Badnota area of ​​Kathua, killing five Army personnel and injuring several.

A massive search operation has already been launched to trace the terrorists responsible for the attack.

"I am deeply saddened by the death of five of our brave Indian soldiers in a terrorist attack in Badnota, Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir)," the Defense Minister said on Twitter.

"My deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the nation stands firmly with them in this difficult time. Anti-terrorism operations are ongoing and our troops are committed to maintaining peace and order in the region," he said.

"I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in this cowardly terrorist attack," Singh said.

Defense Secretary Aramane also expressed "deep sorrow over the death of five brave men" in the attack and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families.

He said, "Their selfless service towards the nation will always be remembered and their sacrifice will not be avenged and India will defeat the evil forces behind the attack."

Aramane's comments were shared on 'X' by a spokesperson for the Defense Ministry.
