Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has said that heat wave is likely to occur in 23 divisions across the state on Tuesday.

In an official statement, APSDMA Managing Director R Kurmanadh said 61 out of 234 divisions are likely to see severe heat waves, while 173 divisions are expected to see heat waves.

"Severe heat waves have been predicted in Srikakulam district (13 mandals), Vizianagaram (24), Parvatipuram Manyam (14), Anakapalle (nine) and Padmanabha mandals of Visakhapatnam district," he said in a press release.

There is a possibility of heat wave in 13 mandals of Srikakulam district, three mandals of Vizianagaram, nine mandals each in Alluri Sitamaraju and Anakapalle, two mandals in Visakhapatnam and one mandal in Parvatipuram Manyam.

Similarly, in 19 mandals of Kakinada and Palanadu, heat waves were reported in East Godavari (18), Prakasam (16), Guntur (15), Eluru (12), Krishna (10), Konaseema (seven), NTR (six), Bapatla. There is a possibility. and Tirupati (four each), West Godavar (three), Nellore (two) and Annamayya (one).

Meanwhile, the department highlighted that Atmakuru in Nandyala district recorded the maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius on Monday, followed by Simhadripura (45.9 degrees) in Cuddapah district and Ramabhadrapuram (45.1 degrees) in Vijayanagara district.

According to officials, Kodumuru in Kurnool district recorded a maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, followed by Saluru I Parvatipuram Manyam in the district at 44.5 degrees Celsius and Ravuru in Nellore district at 44.4 degrees Celsius.

Kurmanadh suggested people to stay indoors between 11 am and 4 pm and appealed to the elderly and lactating women to exercise caution.
