ISLAMABAD [Pakistan], Karachi is facing a fuel crisis after the supply of petroleum products ran out amid the ongoing strike by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, ARY News reported on Friday.

As per specifications, petrol stations in Karachi and across Pakistan were closed at 6 am today on the request of PPDA.

Sources claim that petroleum products are still being supplied from the ports of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing organizations.

Meanwhile, the Oil Tanker Owners Association has distanced itself from the walkout of petroleum traders. According to Shams Shahwani, president of the Oil Tanker Owners Association, fuel is provided to power plants, airports and railroads.

People in Karachi are facing fuel shortage at a time when the country's oil corporation Pakistan State Oil (PSO) on Thursday announced that the supply of petroleum products will be ensured across the country.

However, now the demands have not been met.

The oil corporation further said the supply chain is fully operational, and said petrol pumps will remain stocked despite the strike.

“Continuous supply of petrol at the pumps is being ensured,” PSO spokesperson said.

The PSO reiterated its readiness to serve the public. "The PSO is always ready to serve the people," the spokesperson said, according to an ARY News report.

The All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association continued its nationwide strike on Friday, stalling talks between the government delegation and the association.

After the All-Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association demanded a strike, the government held talks with them, but reports claim that the deadlock still persists.
