Amaravati, India Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds in parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days from May 30.

Rain with strong winds is expected over parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema.

According to the Meteorological Department's release, winds have been estimated at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour (km/h).

Apart from the storm, the department has also predicted heavy rain in parts of Rayalaseema on June 2.

Meanwhile, a meteorological department official said the southwest monsoon has entered Kerala and advanced into most parts of northeast India on Thursday.
