Shimla: The campaign for all four Lok Sabha seats and six Assembly bypolls in Himachal Pradesh ended on Thursday with rallies by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and road shows by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Elections in the hill state will be held on June 1, the last phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Now, political leaders will go door to door in a last ditch effort to woo voters.

The stakes are high on the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, where Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, the "raja" of the erstwhile Rampur Estate and son of six-time chief minister Virbhadra Singh, is contesting against BJP's actress Kangana Ranaut.

In Hamirpur, four-time MP and Union Minister Anurag Thakur is seeking a fifth term. This constituency has also become important because four out of six by-elections are to be held here.

Apart from four Lok Sabha seats of Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra and Shimla, by-elections are also being held in six assembly constituencies of Sujanpur, Dharamshala, Lahaul and Spiti, Badsar, Gagret and Kutlehar. These seats became vacant after six Congress MLAs voted in favor of BJP's Rajya Sabha candidate Harsh Mahajan on February 27.

Later, the Congress rebels were disqualified for violating the party whip of voting in favor of the government during the budget. These MLAs joined BJP and were given tickets from their respective assembly seats.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held two rallies each covering all four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. BJP president J.P. Nadda toured his home state extensively, while Union minister Nitin Gadkar addressed three public rallies in the state.

For the ruling Congress in the state, party president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a rally in Rohu (apple belt) of Shimla PC. While Rahul Gandhi addressed two rallies in a day, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed several rallies in the four days ahead of the elections.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar (BJP) and former Union Minister Shash Tharoor (Congress) spoke in the state to make their point.Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, upset with the attempts to topple his government, in his public meetings termed the Congress rebels as "kaale naag" (black snakes) and "bikau (sellables)".

Soon after the announcement of Kangana Ranaut as the BJP candidate for the Mand seat, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet commented, "What is the sentiment seeking in Mandi", which drew sharp reactions.

Ranaut started her campaign by calling Rahul Gandhi and his rival Vikramaditya Singh "Bada Pappu" and "Chhota Pappu".

He allegedly used derogatory words against the Nehru family and did not even spare his own party leader Tejashwi Surya, whom he confused with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and called him a "hooligan spreader and a fish." Dubbed the "eater" leader.

In retaliation, Vikramaditya Singh's mother and state Congress chief Pratibha Singh called Kangana "Yeh Husn Pari Hai, Yeh Kya Cheez Hai".The BJP's campaign focused on the Congress's failure to fulfill election promises and the achievements of the Modi government, while the Congress focused its campaign on the Centre's discriminatory attitude during the monsoon disaster as well as the BJP's attempts to topple the democratically elected state government. Focused on alleged effort.

A total of 62 candidates are in the fray, including 37 candidates for the four Lok Sabha seats and 25 candidates for the six assembly by-elections.
