New Delhi, An art show, which is being touted as South Asia's "highest ever contemporary land art group exhibition" at an altitude of 3,600 metres, is set to be held in Leh, Ladakh from June 1-11.

The event, titled "The Future of Immersive Land Art/Immersive Land Art and the Future", promises an invigorating blend of creativity, culture and environmental consciousness, organizers said in a statement.

Open to the public from June 6, the exhibition to be held at the picturesque Disco Valley Bike Park in Leh will also have school workshops from June 1-5.

It said Sa, which means soil in the Ladakhi language, would focus on the theme of mountain environment, culture and community.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition in August 2023, which was recognized as one of the leading global exhibitions integrating cultural and natural elements and fostering a more expansive and aware arts community, S. Ladakh Edition two hopes to set new standards in immersive art experiences.,

With a thematic focus on "climate optimism", it also aims to promote meaningful dialogue and actions towards a sustainable future.

This year's edition boasts a rich range of site-specific art installations and sculptures, carefully crafted from locally discarded, renewable or reusable materials.

“Apart from showcasing breathtaking artworks, the event will also include engaging school outreach programmes, artist film screenings curated by the Dharamshala International Film Festival and unprecedented contemporary performances.

"The edition has received prestigious support from the European Union Nation Institute for Culture 2024, further strengthening the importance of its global impact," the statement said. It is one of 19 projects around the world to receive their support, the statement said.This year's lineup includes a diverse array of talented artists.
