In a statement, Hari expressed his condolences over the incident and claimed that chaos broke out long after he left the venue.

"I/We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and pray to Prabhu/Paramatma (God) for the speedy recovery of the injured," the statement said.

He further said that he has approached Supreme Court lawyer A.P. Singh to take further legal action regarding the stampede created by some anti-social elements after the conclave. Singh has been authorized.

The stampede resulted in the death of 121 people, mostly women, as devotees suffocated to death and bodies piled on top of each other.

A preliminary investigation led by a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) said the stampede occurred after devotees were pushed by the deity's security and a "slippery slope".

Initial reports said, "A crowd of more than 2 lakh people was present at the satsang pandal. Shri Narayan Sakar Hari (Bhole Baba) reached the satsang pandal around 12.30 pm and the program lasted for 1 hour."

"Subsequently, around 1.40 pm, Shri Narayan Sakar Hari (Bhole Baba) came out of the pandal to head towards Etah on National Highway-91," the report said. "Run towards him for 'darshan' and Collect soil from around their feet.

"Satsangi women/men/children etc. started applying the dust of Baba's feet on their foreheads to get darshan of Baba, touch his feet and seek his blessings," the report said.
