Una, Himachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Secretary M Sudha Devi on Sunday said a project to provide nutritious food to pregnant women and children up to two years of age will be run on a pilot basis in Una district.

Addressing a meeting here, he said Himachal Pradesh has become the first state to receive the Women and Child Integrated Development Study (WINGS) project.

The official said it will be implemented in Una district on a pilot basis.

Sudha Devi said that under this project, apart from providing special nutritious diet to both these groups, the nutrition of pregnant women as well as children up to 2 years will be monitored at the village level so that positive changes can be brought in their health. .

He said that Anganwadi and Asha workers will play an important role in the implementation of this project at the village level.

He said that they will not only help in identifying the target population but also ensure that the target is achieved and guidelines are issued to all concerned departments for successful implementation of the project.
