Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), RR Swain, said that there has been a decline in the number of local people joining terrorism and added that they have to take some steps to maintain a peaceful environment. Strict action will have to be taken against the people.

The DGP also said that the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir were held peacefully.

He said, "We are satisfied that the (Lok Sabha) elections were held in a peaceful manner. The voting percentage was also high... We believe that the elections will be held in a peaceful environment. When there is no tension, people Can vote freely and a candidate can vote independently.“Stand up to contest the elections,” DGP Swain told reporters here.

DGP Swain said, "...we have to be tough against some people. Police, by definition, is law enforcement. To maintain a peaceful environment, we have to take action against some people."

He also said that the police has saved people's lives and reduced violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

“…We are moving from local terrorism to foreign terrorism.Resident terrorism means when our local people get involved in (terrorism). Their numbers have reduced. We have tried to ensure with the help of the community that no local person gets involved in terrorism... Whenever someone gets involved in terrorism, our first attempt is to find out why it happened and how to stop it Our efforts have saved lives and reduced violence...,” DGP Swain said.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has dismissed four employees from service for "links with terrorist organizations" and anti-national activities, sources said.

According to top sources in the Jammu and Kashmir government, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha used Section 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution to dismiss four government employees after a rigorous investigation after it was proved that they were working with Pakistan's ISI and Were working on behalf of terrorist organizations.Law enforcement and intelligence agencies had collected incriminating material evidence against him.
