The incident occurred on April 29 just before Jhansi Junction when 28-year-old Mohamma Arshad was traveling with his 26-year-old wife Afsana.

As soon as the train reached Jhansi station, Arshad gave triple talaq to his wife and got off the train. Before running away he also beat his wife.

Shocked by the sudden turn of events, Afsana contacted the Government Railway Police, who sent her back to Pukhrayan in Kanpur Dehat, from where she had boarded a train for Bhopal earlier that day.

Eventually an FIR was registered and a search for the accused was initiated.

Arshad, a computer engineer working in a private company in Bhopal, married Afsana, a graduate from Kota, Rajasthan, on January 12 this year.

This relationship was established through a matrimonial advertisement.

Last week, when the couple visited Arshad's ancestral home in Pukhrayan, Afsana was surprised to see that Arshad was already married.

According to the complaint, when she protested against him, he and her mother started harassing her for dowry.

This continued until Arshad finally uttered triple talaq and disappeared leaving her in the train.

In a video going viral, Afsana has appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to help her and take action against people who divorce women and abandon them.

Area Officer (CO) Priya Singh said that on the basis of the woman's complaint, a case has been registered against her husband Arshad, her maternal uncle Aqeel, father Nafisul Hasan and mother Parveen.

“The matter will be investigated and action will be taken,” the CO said.
