Murshidabad (West Bengal) [India] Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the decision to implement the new penal laws from July 1 was taken in haste and further consultations are required before they are enforced.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said: "The three penal laws that will be implemented from tomorrow have many issues on which more clarity is required. Over the centuries, the laws that are being followed, if changed overnight tomorrow, then the common man and the lawyers Smaller courts will face difficulties. The big advocates of the country may understand the laws, but the lawyers based in smaller towns may have limited knowledge of them, so more time must be given. to make them understand if any decision is made hastily there may be a negative impact."

He further said that one should have confidence in the common man before implementing the laws.

He said, "Before implementing it, more debate should be held and people should be given confidence. If the implementation is delayed by a few months or a year, it will not make any difference. The doubts need to be cleared from the minds." of the common people," he added.

Earlier, Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the new criminal laws namely Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam will come into force from 1 July 2024.

"The IPC, CrPC and the Indian Evidence Act are changing. After following due process of consultation and taking into account the reports of the Law Commission of India, all the three laws have been amended," Meghwal said.

"The three laws will be implemented from July 1 under the names Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. Training facilities for the three new laws are being provided in all states," Meghwal said.

He highlighted that the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) is providing training for this.

He added, "Our judicial academies and national law universities are also providing training for the same. Everything is going hand in hand and from July 1 these three laws which are crucial for the criminal justice system will be implemented in the country." "
