Thane, Maharashtra Police in Thane district on Wednesday arrested a 38-year-old man for murdering a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair. An officer gave this information.

The accused, a resident of Mumbra area, and the 32-year-old victim, who was unmarried, were having a long-standing affair and they often quarreled over some issues, said an official from Shil-Daighar police station.

On Tuesday, both of them went to a lodge in Mumbra and fought again.

The man then allegedly strangulated the woman to death, the officer said.

He said that after receiving the information, the police reached the spot and found the victim lying dead on the bed.

Police later sent the body for postmortem and arrested the man early Wednesday, he said.

The officer said that a case has been registered against the accused under section 103 (murder) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
