Kashmir (Jammu & Kashmir) [India], Jammu & Kashmir Police along with Army 46 RR arrested a terrorist associate associated with proscribed terrorist organization Lashkar/TRF at Echo Park Crossing and recovered incriminating material, arms and ammunition from his possession. Ammunition recovered. Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.
Acting on a specific input regarding terrorist activity in the Echo Park Crossing area, a joint patrol was carried out by Baramulla Police and Army 46 RR. During patrolling, a suspicious person was seen coming towards the team on foot. When the suspect saw the police and security forces, he attempted to run away, but was immediately caught by the alert patrol team.
During initial interrogation, the suspect was identified as Shakir Ahmed Lone. One pistol, one magazine, eight pistol rounds and three hand grenades were recovered from him.
The accused also revealed that he was in touch with a Pakistan-based terrorist handler and was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Baramulla city.
A case under Section UA(P) and Arms Act has been registered at PS Baramulla and investigation is underway.
