SRINAGAR: A terrorist associate linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its affiliate the Resistance Front (TRF) has been arrested from Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said on Tuesday.

He said that a pistol, a magazine, eight rounds and three hand grenades were recovered from him. The man was identified as Shakir Ahmed Lone of Dangerpora Sheeri.

"Police in Baramulla, along with security forces, have arrested a terrorist associate associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-TRF and recovered incriminating material, arms and ammunition from his possession," a police spokesperson said.

He said the forces were conducting joint patrolling in the Echo Park crossing area in Baramulla city when they intercepted Lone.

The spokesperson said the man tried to run away but was caught.

"During preliminary interrogation, it emerged that he is associated with the banned terrorist organization LeT-TRF and is in touch with Pakistan-based terror handlers. He was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Baramulla city," he said.
