SRINAGAR: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said though the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir is good, terrorism is still alive as the border with Pakistan remains permeable.

"The security (scenario) is good. Terrorism is there. Our border is permeable and cannot be controlled everywhere," Abdullah told reporters in Baramulla when asked about the Reasi terror attack.

The former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir condemned the attackers.

He said, "I regret that innocent pilgrims, unarmed people were attacked. All of us, the people of the state, must condemn this and pray that God sends to hell those who did this."

Referring to the annual Amarnath Yatra that begins later this month, Abdullah said the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be prepared for the pilgrimage.

He said, "We have always welcomed it and have made efforts to make the pilgrims comfortable. God willing, this year too the Yatra will take place in a cordial atmosphere."

Asked about Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's post congratulating him on Narendra Modi's third term as Prime Minister, the NC president said even though the two counterparts keep congratulating each other, they need to focus on cordial behaviour. Must work.
