Srinagar: A temple situated on a hilltop in Gulmarg, a tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir, was gutted in a fire early on Wednesday. Officials gave this information here.
The fire broke out before dawn in the Shiva temple, also known as the Rani temple.
He said that with the help of local people, the police extinguished the fire but the temple could not be saved.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately known.
The temple was popular among tourists as it has been featured in many Bollywood films, including the hit song 'Jai Jai Shiv Shankar' from "Aap Ki Kasam".
