The minister assured the businesswomen that the industrial policy will encourage them and the government will provide them with all necessary support.

She recalled that the Congress government was to identify the potential of IT in 1992 and lay the foundation for the Indian Software Technology Park.

She highlighted the importance of skills and the availability of a good skill set in the state. To further augment this, the state will soon create a Skills University similar to the Indian School of Business (ISB), which will be run and managed by the industry, she added.

Mentioning that the state is home to 200 global capacity centres, she said more CCGs were expected to come up.

"We will transform our IT industry from software development to finished products industry," she said.

Replying to a question, she said the government is exploring the possibilities of parallel rail connection along the 320-kilometre-long Regional Ring Road (RRR).

She said as part of industrial development, the state would be divided into three zones. While IT companies will be given priority within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), other industries will be promoted in the area between ORR and RRR. Industries related to agriculture will be promoted in the remaining area.

Inaugurating the conclave, FLO National President Joyshree Das Verma spoke about the journey of FLO. “Our vision is the growth and inclusion of women entrepreneurs in India,” she said.

She mentioned that MSMEs contribute 30% of India's GDP and 45% of manufacturing output and generate 11 crore employment.

An MoU was signed between FLO and National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and was exchanged by Joyshree Das Verma and Dr. Glory Swarupa, Director General of Ni MSME.
