Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday asked officials of revenue generating departments to ensure that they achieve their annual targets.

During a review meeting, Revanth Reddy directed officials to take steps to ensure that the revenue increases compared to the previous financial year.

Officials from Excise, Commercial Tax, Mining, Stamp and Registration and Transport departments participated in the meeting.

The CM said that all departments should take strict action to stop tax evasion, an official release said on Thursday night.

He instructed each department to prepare monthly targets as per the annual target and inform about the progress from time to time.

Pointing to revenues till June in this financial year, he said they were not promising compared to the annual target.

Commercial tax officials have been directed to visit the area and ensure tax collection without sparing anyone with regard to GST payment, the release said.

Noting that there has been a decline in revenues through VAT on petrol and diesel, he suggested that the authorities examine revising the tax on aviation fuel.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of increase in revenue despite increase in liquor sales during the elections and gave instructions to stop illegal transportation of liquor.

Noting that construction of commercial buildings has seen an increase in the last six months due to programs taken by the government, the CM said construction of houses will also see an increase.
