Deoria (UP): A 14-year-old boy died and his 8-year-old brother sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out in four huts in a village here. Police gave this information on Saturday.
Laxman Prasad (14) and his brother Bharat Prasad were sleeping in a hut when the fire broke out in Siswa village. C Kumar said that Laxman managed to pull Bharat out of the burning hut, but he himself got trapped and died on the spot.
Circle Officer (CO) Aditya Kumar Gautam said the incident took place on Friday afternoon when four houses in Siswa village caught fire, leading to a gas cylinder explosion.
He said that Bharat was taken to the hospital and his condition is said to be stable.
The reason behind the fire has not been known yet. He said that the body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway.
