New Delhi: Investigating officers who are not well acquainted with the "e-Praman" mobile app will have a team to help them use it to record video or audio evidence, which is mandatory under the new Indian Evidence Act (BSA). There is a provision introduced under.

Officials said the data on the app will help in completing various processes including filing of FIRs.

The BSA, which replaced the Evidence Act, along with two other new criminal laws – the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS) – came into force on Monday. BNS and BNSS replaced the Indian Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure respectively.

A senior police officer said that some investigating officers (IOs) are facing difficulties in using the app and they are also being accompanied by teams trained in using it. These teams will also train their colleagues to use the app, the official said.

Another police officer said, if no team is accompanying the IO and the officer needs assistance, he can contact the helpline number.

Police will also use other mobile apps to understand the difference between the old and new laws.

More than 35,000 Delhi Police personnel have been trained on how to understand and implement the provisions of BNS, BNSS and BSA.
