Hyderabad, July 7 ( ) Thanking people for protesting against his arrest in September last year, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the Telugu Desam Party will soon regain its past glory in Telangana too.

Addressing TDP workers here, Naidu said the party was born in Telangana (four decades ago) and will soon be restructured.

The TDP did not contest the November 2023 Assembly elections and this year's Lok Sabha elections in Telangana for various reasons. Currently, the party is headless after Kasani Gnaneshwar resigned as state president ahead of the Assembly elections last year.

"The TDP, which was born for the Telugu people, should be in Telangana. I ask you whether the party that was born in the land of Telangana should function or not (in the state). There were several people who worked for the party. We will restructure it the party very soon (in Telangana),” Naidu said amid cheers from the party cadres.

Stating that he would work to restore the party's past glory in Telangana, he said the TDP will encourage the youth and educated people in the state.

On meeting with his Telangana counterpart A Revanth Reddy on Saturday, Naidu said that though there are different parties in power in AP and here, when it comes to the interests of the Telugu people, there is a need to work together.

Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy met here on Saturday and decided to constitute committees of ministers and officials to address pending issues related to the bifurcation of undivided Andhra in 2014.

"We held talks with the Telangana government yesterday. I hope they will be held in future too," he said.

Recalling his contribution as Chief Minister to the development of Hyderabad city two decades ago, the TDP supremo said Telangana now enjoys the top spot as far as per capita income is concerned and the gap between it and Andhra Pradesh was 33 per cent. cent in 2014.

He said that he was able to reduce the gap to 27 per cent during his tenure as CM between 2014 and 2019. However, it rose again to 44 per cent during the YSR Congress regime.

The Andhra CM claimed that several industries are expressing their willingness to invest in AP, but they fear the "attitude" of the opposition YSRCP.

Despite several obstacles and problems, he assured that he would take responsibility for the development of Andhra Pradesh.
