Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at empowering rural women entrepreneurs in the State.

The Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation, with financial support from the World Bank, launched a special platform called TN-RISE. This initiative seeks to address the challenges that women entrepreneurs face in accessing financing, credit and marketing opportunities.

"Based on the announcement of our honorable Chief Minister in the TN Legislative Assembly, Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation is launching a special platform called TN-RISE with the financial assistance of the World Bank. The main objective of this initiative is to attract more women women entrepreneurs from rural areas of Tamil Nadu," Stalin said.

Stalin emphasized that the TN-RISE initiative aligns with the progressive principles of the Dravidian movement, which continues to guide the efforts of the current state government.

"This reflects the progressive tradition of our Dravidian movement, which is represented in the current Tamil Nadu government. We refer to it as the Dravidian model government," Stalin added.

Stalin highlighted that women are "enslaved in two domains: the material domain and the cultural domain."

He said that while organizations like the World Bank work to empower women in the material sphere, the Dravidian movement strives to liberate women from cultural limitations. He expressed pride over the Dravidian Model government's collaboration with the World Bank to promote women empowerment in the material sphere as well.

"There are organizations like the World Bank working to liberate women in the material sphere. Similarly, our Dravidian movement strives to liberate women from slavery in the cultural sphere. Now, our Dravidian model government takes pride in join the World Bank in the empowerment of women also in the material sphere," said the minister.

"Women entrepreneurs face numerous challenges in promoting their business ideas, as well as accessing financing, credit and marketing opportunities. TN RISE aims to remove these obstacles by offering customized market linkages, financing and operational advice. In addition, it will provide a stop - ending business incubation services for rural women-led businesses," she added.

Minister Stalin also announced that TN-RISE has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with multinational companies like Flipkart and HP to provide mentorship and training to emerging women entrepreneurs.

“I am proud to say that TN-RISE had signed MoUs with several multinational companies like Flipkart and HP to provide guidance and training to our budding women entrepreneurs,” Stalin said.

"I would like to invite industries and entrepreneurs to join hands with our government for the noble cause of raising more women entrepreneurs in our state of Tamil Nadu," she added.

The launch of TN-RISE marks an important step in supporting and promoting women-led startups across the state.

The launch event brought together key government stakeholders, industry leaders, investors and aspiring women entrepreneurs, setting the stage for TN-RISE to drive the growth and success of rural women-led businesses. The Government of Tamil Nadu also announced the establishment of an exclusive 'Startup Mission' dedicated to helping women entrepreneurs with their financial, credit and marketing challenges.

Through TN-RISE, the government aims to leverage existing platforms and address gaps in the business ecosystem, creating robust infrastructure and providing professional expertise to support women-led rural businesses.
