Chennai, Tamil Nadu SSLC public examination results declared by the authorities on Friday showed that there has been a marginal improvement in the overall pass percentage and the passing percentage of girls is 94.53 per cent, which is 5.95 per cent higher than that of boys (88.58 per cent).

The Tamil Nadu Government Examinations Department, which released data related to the SSLC exam, said this year's pass percentage (91.55) is 0.16 per cent higher than last year (91.39).

Of the 13,510 disabled students, 12,491 passed the examination (92.45 per cent) and 228 of the 260 inmates passed (87.69 per cent). 8,94,264 students appeared for the SSLC exam in the state and among them, 4,47,06 were girls and 4,47,203 were boys. Overall, 8,18,743 students (91.55 per cent) were successful and among them girls were 4,22,591 (94.53 per cent) and boys 3,96,152 (88.58 per cent).20,691 and 5,104 students got CENTU in Mathematics and Science subjects respectively. Only 8 students scored centum in Tamil and 415 scored 100 per cent marks in English. In Social Science, 4,428 students scored maximum 10 marks.

Ariyalur (97.31 per cent), Sivagangai (97.02) and Ramanathapuram districts (96.36) recorded the maximum pass percentage. Government schools Ariyalur (96.20), Sivagangai (95.45) and Kanniyakumari (95.17) achieved the maximum pass percentage.

Vellore (82.07), Ranipet (85.48) and Tiruvannamalai (86.10) were the districts securing the lowest pass percentage.The lowest pass percentage in respect of government schools was observed in the districts of Vellore (77.66), Chennai (79.07) and Chengalpet (79.20).

Overall, 9,10,148 school students had registered for the exam and 15,88 of them were absent. Of the 32,348 private candidates, 2,236 were absent.

Supplementary SSLC examination (2023-24 academic year) will be conducted from July 2, 2024 keeping in mind the welfare of the students who were absent and could not qualify the examination in March-April this year. The government said students who qualify the supplementary examination will be eligible to pursue higher secondary courses (Plus One and Plus Two and any other course for which the eligibility is passing in SSLC) from the current academic year- 2024-25.Supplementary exam time table will be declared on 11th May. From May 13, all schools can download the provisional SSLC marks certificate from the government portal.

SSLC exams in Tamil Nadu were held from March 26 to April 8.
