New Delhi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday urged citizens to prioritize the interests of the country above everything else and seek guidance from the eternal teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.

Describing the timeless wisdom of the Gita as a guiding light amidst uncertainty, Dhankhar emphasized that the holy book illuminates the path of sublime spirituality, religiosity and commitment to duty.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the release of former Lok Sabha Secretary General Subhash Kashyap's commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, the Vice President drew attention to the 22 miniatures or miniature paintings in the original copy of the Constitution taking inspiration from the Gita.

Focusing on the Directive Principles of State Policy in Part 4 of the Constitution, he compared it to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, where Lord Krishna imparts enlightenment to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

According to an official statement, Dhankhar reflected on the times when world bodies including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank used to give instructions to India regarding the conduct of national affairs.

He drew attention to the changing global economic scenario, where India has become the fifth largest economy, leaving behind France, Britain, Canada and Brazil.
