Los Angeles, Fresh from the success of heist comedy "The Crew," actor Tabu has joined the cast of Legend Television's HBO Max prequel series "Dune: Prophecy."

According to a report from entertainment outlet Variety, Tabu will star in the recurring role of Sister Francesca, described as a "strong, intelligent and charming" character.

The producers said, "Sister Francesca leaves an indelible mark on his life. Once deeply loved by the Emperor, her return to the palace upsets the balance of power in the capital."

The series takes place 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert's "Dune" and is based on the novel "Sisterhood of Dune" by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson.It was previously titled "Dune: The Sisterhood".

In director Denis Villeneuve's 2021 and 2023 feature adaptations of the "Dune novels", Charlotte Rampling plays Reverend Mother Mohiam, the Emperor's Ben Gesserit Truthsayer.

Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) was the Bene Gesserit mother of protagonist Paul, played by Timothée Chalamet.

According to the official logline, "Set within the vast universe of 'Dune', created by acclaimed writer Frank Herbert, and set 10,000 years before the ascension of Pau Atreides, 'Dune: Prophecy' follows two Harkonnen sisters as they Combat the forces threatening the future of mankind, and founded the legendary sect that would come to be known as the Bene Gesserit.,

Tabu has previously starred in international projects such as "The Namesake", "Life of Pi" and the BBC miniseries "A Suitable Boy". Domestically, the National Award winner's credits include titles like "Andhadhun", "Maqbool", "Haider", "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2", and "Drishyam".

Producers have not yet announced a premiere date for "Dune: Prophecy," which also stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sophie Bousnina, and Shalom Brune-Franklin.
