Despite Pathum Nissanka's 47, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 124 on a slow pitch. Although Nuwan Thushara took 4-28, Sri Lanka were unable to prevent a tight victory over Bangladesh, meaning their Super Eights hopes are in huge danger.

"Our batsmen batted really well in the first 8-10 overs. After that in the middle overs I think we batted poorly. We all know that our bowling attack is our strength.Especially if the batsmen score 150-160 runs, our bowling attack can win the game. The batsmen did not perform well in the last two matches.

“It's tough because the first two games we lost. We bowled with four main bowlers. "I think our four real bowlers did their job but unfortunately we had to bowl four overs from our all-rounders," Hasaranga said after the match.,

Sri Lanka's lack of performance so far in the T20 World Cup has come as a surprise, considering they landed in the USA on May 20. In the post-match press conference, team manager Mahinda Halangode said that Sri Lanka never really got the big chances. To adjust to the conditions due to persistent rain at their base camp in North Carolina.

“We were in North Carolina and in a place called Morrisville. But unfortunately, we couldn't really practice during the entire period because it rained and the wickets there were not really up to standard, which meant we found it a bit difficult.,

"I wouldn't say that's why we lost, but certainly when you look at the wickets in America, I think you can see there were low scores there," he said. So, the batsmen will definitely have to adapt to the conditions and really get a good score so that the bowlers can hold on and try to win the game,” he said.

Halangode said that he tried to go to another city like Dallas or Florida for training, but that could not happen as things were out of his control. “We really tried to do that but unfortunately all those grounds were not available.

“We contacted the American Cricket Association because they were the ones who helped us find a venue in North Carolina as all other venues were fully booked. We were also trying to play a series with the American team. Unfortunately, Bangladesh had already got the opportunity to play against them and because of this we had to go to North Carolina.

Talking about the match, Thushara believes that if Sri Lanka had 20 more runs to defend, things would have been different. “The pitch was hard and difficult for the batsmen. We were just 20 runs behind. If we could have scored those 20 extra runs, we could have won this match.

“But we did our best even for 120 because we wanted to win this match anyhow. We played till the last ball thinking that we can win this match. I think India's (wickets) were very different, their scores were higher and it was difficult to bowl there. So, I think what I learned there (in IPL 2024), it was easy for me to apply it in this match, like how to handle pressure and things like that.”
