On a slow-paced, low-bouncing pitch, India lost Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in the Power-play. But Rohit has managed to keep India afloat by hitting six boundaries, with Suryakumar Yadav partnering him on 13 not out after the 2007 winners were inserted to bat first, following a delay of one hour and 15 minutes due to rain .

With England getting a hint of movement due to cloud cover, they managed to nail their lengths well, targeting mainly the stumps. Rohit Sharma got two boundaries between spells, while Kohli was convincing with his six-ball off Reece Topley. But in an attempt to push Topley across the line, Kohli failed to take into account the length of his ball coming back in and saw his ball jerk.

Even though Rohit didn't have the desired timing in his shots, the Indian captain managed to remove Topley for four and then stayed down the leg side to drive the pacer in style towards another boundary.

But England removed Pant, as he bowled straight to mid-wicket off Sam Curran. Suryakumar opened his account with a straight shot past Curran for four as India finished the Power-play at 46/2.

Rohit welcomed Adil Rashid with a reverse sweep and the conventional sweep that gave him two boundaries, followed by Suryakumar kneeling to bowl a slower ball from Chris Jordan over long leg for six. Just before the ninth over began, the rain began to pour heavily, forcing everyone to leave the field.

For the completion of the second semi-final, an additional 250 minutes have been allocated because there is no reserve day. If rain comes later and causes a disaster, India will advance to the final as they finished as the highest-ranked team in Group 1 of the Super Eights.

Brief scores:

India 67/2 in 8 overs (Rohit Sharma 37 not out; Sam Curran 1-6) against England
