Rohit Sharma-led India will take on Babar Azam-led Pakistan at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday. Recent matches at the venue have cast doubt on the freshly laid drop-in pitches showing unexpected bounce and advocating low scores in the T20 showpiece.

Commenting on the importance of the toss on the surface, Pathan said that winning or losing the toss impacts a team's bowling if they choose to bat first.

"I especially want to emphasize on the fact that this particular pitch will play an important role during the India vs Pakistan match. Firstly, winning or losing the toss will have an impact on the bowling, if the team takes the first approach. The pitch is prone to unpredictable bounce. And teams will have to face that, they may even lose a wicket."

He said, "This can happen to anyone. The India vs Pakistan match should be on a good pitch so that the stronger team wins and India becomes a stronger team."

India played two matches in New York - the last match against Ireland and a warm-up match against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue won both matches and performed well on each occasion.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will be playing their first match after losing to the United States in their tournament opener in Dallas. The blockbuster clash between the two Asian giants will begin at 8 pm.
