There is a lot of discussion on BCCI's decision of not including Rink Singh in the 15-member team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar even clarified that it was not Rinku Singh's fault as he did nothing wrong.

The explosive batsman performed brilliantly in IPL 2023 and followed it up with impressive performances for the Indian cricket team in T20Is. However he was included in the reserves and Shivam Dubey was rewarded for his form in the ongoing IPL 2024.

India chose four spinners
, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal – for the mega sporting spectacle to be played in the United States and the Caribbean from June 1. The pitches there are likely to be more suited to PAC bowling and that is why many experts believe four spinners is too many.

Speaking to IANS, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Latif said Rinku has the experience of finishing matches and can help India in the USA and West Indies.“It is very difficult for all the teams to select the team for the World Cup. No matter how good a team is selected, 2-3 players will always be left out. Rinku Singh should not have been removed. He became famous after the KKR match and then he also made his international debut.

“In my opinion, Rinku Singh has the finishing experience, which we have already seen. Not once but many times he has shown his strength. In this selection, if it seems that there is a bowler extra then Rinku Singh could have been kept in the team. Instead of picking four spinners, Rinku Singh would have been selected,” Rashid Latif told IANS.India's squad for T20 World Cup 2024: Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain) Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah.
