New Zealand asked Uganda to bat first and the Kiwi bowlers gave the opposition a strong start which they never recovered from. Tim Southee took 3/4 wickets, while Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra took two wickets each as Uganda were bowled out for 40 in 18.4 overs.

Chasing only the target, Devon Conway's unbeaten 22* took them to an impressive nine-wicket win at the Brian Lara Stadium.

Williamson said in reaction after the match, "Need to train again and play again. Same discussions again. The circumstances have been respected, we will rest and play again in a few days."

"Our players were good. There was a hard surface. There was not a lot of control on ideas and methods. It made a difference. We saw that in the last match it was unique, it was better to play this way in this match. Teams get more exposure at the highest level. "It's always a great experience to learn from."

In their previous matches, New Zealand missed out on qualifying for the next round after losing to Afghanistan and co-hosts West Indies.

New Zealand have been eliminated from the Super Eight stage of the tournament and will play their final match at the same venue on Monday.
