Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Ahead of India's ICC T20 World Cup clash against Afghanistan, Indian veteran Piyush Chawla said pacer Mohammed Siraj should make way for spinner Kuldeep Yadav as conditions in Barbados require the teams play with three spinners.

India will play Afghanistan in their ICC T20 World Cup Super Eights match in Barbados on Wednesday. India finished their group stage with three wins in three matches against Ireland, Pakistan and the United States in Group A, while their last match against Canada ended in failure. Afghanistan finished the group stage in second place in Group C, with three wins and one loss against the West Indies.

Speaking at the Star Sports press room for Super 8, Piyush said, "Well, you definitely need a spinner, especially in those conditions where the ball is spinning and the delivery is slower. So, I would say I won't choose between Axar (Patel) or (Ravindra) Jadeja (to make way for Kuldeep) because you need three spinners in those conditions And with the way Hardik Pandya bowls, you can consider him your third seamer. “It will be a toss-up between Arshdeep and Arshdeep. Siraj. And while Arshdeep has played well, and I don't want to take any credit away from Siraj, if you have to choose between those two, I think Siraj has to make way for Kuldeep."

Piyush said all West Indies venues are suitable for playing spinners and said the team's strategy of picking four spinners was for this particular stage of the competition.

"If you look at the conditions, all places are suitable for spinners. When the team was formed, everyone asked why four spinners were included in the team, and Rohit said we will find out. Actually, he was referring to this stage "We are already playing two spinners here, and an additional spinner would join the team. As Srikkanth sir (Kris) said, Siraj is doing well, but looking at the team combination, Kuldeep should be included in the team," he concluded.
