Kingstown [St Vincent and the Grenadines], Nepal's bowlers bowled out Bangladesh's batsmen for 106 runs in a Group D match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday (local time).

With the new ball Sompal Kami was the architect of Bangladesh's batting collapse on a pitch that had good grass, later it was captain Rohit Paudel who made use of the favorable bowling conditions on offer to grab two important wickets. Bangladesh scored 106 runs thanks to the 18-run partnership of Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed for the last wicket.

Opting to bowl first, Nepal's Kami took full advantage of the bowling-friendly pitch and dismissed Tanzeed Hasan for a golden duck in the very first over of the game. Building on that early success, Deepender Singh dealt another blow to Bangladesh by dismissing Nazmul Hossain Shanto for 4 in the second over of the game.Liton Das's poor performance continued as his top edge landed straight behind the wicket, where keeper Asif Shaikh took a safe catch. Kami rewarded the captain for his decision to bowl the third consecutive over. After this, the Nepalese took wickets in the fifth and sixth overs and performed effectively in the powerplay, reducing the Tigers' score to 31/4 at the end of six overs.

Tauheed Hridoy showed some positive intent but Paudel cut short his stay, leaving Bangladesh in trouble. Nepal kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The experienced pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah then came together to help stabilize the innings. Mahmudullah died just as they were rebuilding, due to a misunderstanding.

Bangladesh attempted to rehabilitate the innings by spreading out the field more and tried to get past 50. But the crucial dismissal of Mahmudullah (13 off 13) after a disappointing runout due to miscommunication left Bangladesh in trouble.

Bangladesh's hopes rested on the shoulders of Shakib Al Hasan to get them out of the trouble, however, the star all-rounder became Paudel's victim after scoring 17 runs.Sandeep Lamichhane got his 99th T20I wicket by dismissing Tanzim Hasan Saqib for 3 runs. After this, Nepali spinners took the responsibility by taking wickets in the middle session. However, Nepal's decision to give the 19th over to Avinash Bohra instead of the frontline bowler may come back to haunt them, as he conceded 11 runs, although a run out in the last over ended Bangladesh's innings at 106 runs.

Bangladesh managed to score 106 runs thanks to an 18-run partnership for the last wicket between Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed.

Brief scores: Bangladesh... (Shakib Al Hasan 17, Rishad Hussain 13; Sompal Kami 2-10) v Nepal.
