New Delhi: A court here on Monday rejected the bail plea of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar, who is accused of attacking AAP M Swati Maliwal at the CM residence.

Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal, after hearing the arguments of both the parties in the court, rejected the bail plea of CM's personality assistant Kumar. Detailed orders on the matter are awaited.

During the proceedings, Rajya Sabha MP Maliwal told the court that Kumar's life was in danger and his family was in "grave danger" if he was released.

He claimed that a YouTuber had made a 'one-sided video' about the incident, after which he started receiving threats.

Some videos from the Chief Minister's residence since the day of the incident on May 13 have surfaced on social media, one shows Maliwal arguing with security personnel, while another shows him walking out of the Chief Minister's residence in Civil Lines. Maliwal's lawyer said that despite this, Maliwa was receiving threats due to Kumar being in jail. He questioned Kumar's innocence and alleged that Kumar had formatted his phone and deleted the CCTV footage of the incident.Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava said that Maliwal had not encroached on the Chief Minister's residence. He also said that despite his services being terminated, Kumar was an "influential" person.

Kumar's lawyer sought bail, saying his client had met the "triple test" for bail - he was not a flight risk, nor likely to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses.

Claiming that Kumar was arrested despite cooperating with the police, Kumar's lawyer said the FIR in the case was filed after a three-day delay as an "afterthought". Kumar was sent to four-day judicial custody on Saturday and is expected to be produced in court on Tuesday.

His anticipatory bail plea, filed on May 18 after his arrest, was considered "meritless" by the court.
