Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], West Bengal opposition leader and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Friday wrote a letter to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), National Commission for Women (NCW). and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and urged the Commission to send a team to West Bengal to investigate the alleged post-poll violence in the state.

Incidents of post-poll violence emerged from several areas in West Bengal, where BJP workers were allegedly beaten up and their offices vandalized, after the declaration of Lok Sabha 2024 results.

"One Hossainara Begum, vice-president of the minority BJP Morcha, daughter of Bajle Rahaman of Vill. Rangamati, P.O. Ramthenga, P.S. Ghoksadanga, Cooch Behar district has been brutally attacked, dragged by her hair and severely and openly physically assaulted. her dressed in broad daylight by TMC goons on June 25, 2024. She has been admitted to the hospital and her condition is alarming,” Adhikari stated in the three letters written to NCM, NCW and NHRC.

"This is another example of post-poll violence in West Bengal, where minority women are also not spared from physical attacks by the ruling TMC hooligans. This brutal incident has shocked the Muslim community," he added.

She further requested that an investigation team be sent to the spot to investigate the matter.

"I request you to send your investigation team to the spot to investigate the matter. I am sending you the copy of the complaint and the photograph along with the video of the victim so that you can take necessary action," she said in a letter.

Earlier on Thursday, Suvendu Adhikari welcomed the Calcutta High Court's decision to grant the Central Government full discretion to deploy Central Armed Paramilitary Forces in West Bengal to save victims of post-poll violence and termed the decision as "historical."

"One more failure of the state machinery has come to the fore. The Hon'ble Calcutta High Court, in a public interest litigation filed by me to save the victims of post-poll violence, has essentially conferred full discretion to deploy to the Central Army. Paramilitary Forces in West Bengal to the Central Government. I welcome this historic decision of the Court, which will save many lives in this failed state of West Bengal," Suvendu Adhikari said in a post on X.

On June 13, police stopped West Bengal opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari from entering Raj Bhavan to meet West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose with alleged victims of post-election violence.

Earlier this month, West Bengal opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari had written to Governor CV Ananda Bose, expressing concern over the alleged role of the All India Trinamool Congress in the post-poll violence, urging him to take measures to prevent the situation from being repeated after the elections in 2024.

In the letter, Adhikari alleged that the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces, stationed after the elections, are not being used to control the worsening situation in which ruling party goons are attacking BJP workers.

Meanwhile, local BJP workers alleged that the BJP party office located at Goragacha, Taratala, was demolished without prior notice by the local administration.
