Azish Ali, who competed at the Paris Olympic Qualifiers (2023 ISA World Surfing Games, El Salvador) last year, was crowned the new IOS champion in the men's open category.

Teenage sensation Kamali Murthy completed a double triumph by winning the Women's Open and both the Groms Girls and Under-16 categories and successfully defended her title.

Another teen from Tamil Nadu, Tayin Arun impressed the judges with his skills and was crowned the new IOS champion in the Groms boys and Under-16 category. The final day's action started with the semi-finals of the Groms boys and Under-16 category . Local favorite Pradeep Pujar led the way with a score of 8.80 and advanced to the final along with Prahlad Sriram (8.50), Harish P (8.26) and Taiyin Arun (6.76).Speaking on the surfing conditions today, Indonesia's Dylan Amar, who was the chief judge at the Indian Open of Surfing, said, “The conditions were excellent today, making the venue highly competitive. The athletes performed brilliantly over the three days. If they maintain this level of effort, Indian surfers may soon make it to the Olympics."

After this the competition reached the semi-finals of Groms Girls and Under-16 category. Tamil Nadu surfers Dhamayanti Sriram and Mahathi Srinivasabharathi qualified for the finals with scores of 4.57 and 3.54 respectively.Top seed Kamali Murthy of Tamil Nadu was already given the final berth on the basis of her national ranking. In the finals of the Groms boys and under-16 category, Tayin Arun impressed the judges with his acrobatics and won the IOS with a score of 10.17. Won his first title in. Harish P (8.40) and Prahlad Sriram (7.47) made it an exciting contest by finishing second and third respectively. Pradeep Pujar of Mantra Surf Club finished fourth with a score of 5.34.

Speaking after winning his first iOS title, Tayin Arun expressed his happiness, “I am really happy to win the title today because it is my first iOS title, and the conditions for surfing were really good.I enjoyed surfing today, and I'm hoping to win more titles in the future. I miss Kishore Kumar because he is my best friend and I would also like to defeat him."

The final day also included the Groms Girls and Under-16 finals, which was an all-Tamil Nadu affair. Kamali Murthy emerged victorious with a brilliant score of 12.17 and clinched the title by a huge margin. Dhamayanti Sriram (5.93) and Mahathi Srinivasbharti (2.07) finished second and third respectively.The highlight of the day was the Men's Open Surfing Final, which was another all-Tamil Nadu affair, featuring top-seeded surfers from across the country. Azish Ali, representing India at the 2023 ISA World Surfing Games in El Salvador, won the championship title with the highest score of the day (14.70). The intense action and exciting competition in the category enthralled the audience.

Srikanth D (12.57) and Sanjaykumar S (11.10) won the runner-up and second runner-up titles respectively, while Sanjay Selvamani finished fourth with a score of 6.17.

After winning the IOS title in the Surfing Men's Open category, Azish Ali said, “I am thrilled to win the title today after finishing runner-up in the last edition.Winning the Indian Open of Surfing was something I really wanted. “My experience in El Salvador for the Paris Olympic Qualifiers last year allowed me to compete with some of the best surfers in the world and learn a lot from them. The event concluded with a tough competition among India's leading women surfers in the finals of the Women's Open Surf category.Kamali Murthy emerged victorious by winning the IOS Women's Championship title in a thrilling final.

Kamali scored 12.40 in the final and narrowly defeated 2022 champion Sugar Banarse of Goa, who scored 12.23 and finished runner-up by just 0.17 points. Mumbai's Neha Vaid finished third with a score of 2.97. Speaking after winning the double title at IOS, Kamali said, “I am thrilled to successfully defend both my titles at the Indian Open of Surfing. Surfing in Mangaluru is always A pleasure, and today was no different.The women's open category was challenging as I was competing against 2022 champion Sugar Banaras, despite this, I managed to stay calm and not let the pressure get to me ahead of the final.
