New Delhi [India], Malayalam actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi took charge of the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas as well as the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday morning.

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri welcomed Gopi and presented her a bouquet. Later, he was also welcomed with a bouquet at the Tourism Ministry office.

Calling it a big responsibility, Gopi, who became the Bharatiya Janata Party's first Lok Sabha MP from Kerala, thanked the people of his Thrissur constituency for giving him the opportunity.

"It is a big responsibility. So, I have to look at the possibilities that the Prime Minister is looking forward to... After reading all the material on the next level of emerging petroleum systems in India, maybe I will be able to contribute my part. Let's Keep your views open. Thank you to the people of Kerala, Thrissur," Gopi told ANI after taking charge as the state minister.
