New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the appeal filed by Yash Raj Films against an order of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) directing the production company to pay Rs 10,000 along with the cost of the suit as compensation to the consumer aggrieved by the boycott. The top court's order came while hearing an appeal filed by Yash Raj Films Pvt Ltd challenging an order of the NCDRC, which had set aside the state commission's 201 direction of granting compensation of Rs 10,000 along with litigation costs of Rs 5,000 to complainant Afreen Fatim Zaidi. Feeling cheated and cheated, the complainant approached the concerned District Forum through a consumer complaint and sought compensation along with a direction to the petitioners to telecast the promo and the song with the caveat that the said song Was not included in the film.

The complaint was rejected by the district forum, following which she approached the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Maharashtra, which opposed the production house.

The production house submitted that the complainant cannot be called a consumer and stated that the song "Jabra Fan" was shown on TV channels as a promotional trailer of the film and disclosed to the public at large through press interviews. I went.The said song will not be a part of the film
