This achievement has been achieved after the successful operation of 46-year-old Ashok Kumar, who was suffering from this disease. The patient had to spend only Rs 400 for the surgery.

Bollywood star Salman Khan also had this disease. Trigeminal neuralgia affects about 10-12 out of 100,000 people and is more common in women.

Ashok was suffering from severe pain on the right side of his face for six years. Despite taking painkillers and undergoing treatment since the age of 40, he did not get any relief. Later, seeing his financial constraints, some people advised him to go to Balrampur Hospital.

Ashok sought help from Dr. Vinod Tiwari, neurosurgeon of Balrampur Hospital. Dr Tiwari said Kumar's right facial pain was triggered by small movements like air, brushing teeth, gargling, eating, drinking water or light touch on the right cheek, which left him in unbearable pain for hours.

“I told him that if it is not cured by medicines, surgery is the only solution,” said Dr Tiwari.

Additionally, the MRI scan revealed that an artery was pressing on the fifth nerve on the right side of Kumar's brain, causing excruciating pain. The medical team decided to perform surgery to relieve the pressure and reduce the patient's suffering.

“I and my team at Balrampur Hospital decided to perform surgery to remove the tumor and decompress the nerve,” said Dr Tiwari.

The operation, which lasted more than three hours under general anesthesia, was successful. Ashok is currently recovering in the ICU ward.

Dr. Tiwari said, the patient can speak normally and is no longer experiencing pain.

Dr. Pawan Kumar, Chief Superintendent of Balrampur Hospital, said, "Due to the pressure on the patient's brain due to this disease, there is a risk of paralysis."
