New Delhi: Residents of Delhi are facing an acute water crisis this summer, with many areas seeing long queues for water and people struggling to get even basic supplies.

As temperatures continue to rise to almost 50 degrees Celsius, the demand for water has increased significantly, leaving many people frustrated and disappointed.

Residents of many areas of Delhi are standing in queues with their plastic containers and anxiously waiting for water tankers.

Vibha Devi, a resident of Geeta Colony, shared her plight: “I have been standing in the queue since 4 am, but because of the crowd, I cannot reach the water tanker…It is difficult to get water.”

Asked if she is successful in getting water, she said, “Sometimes we get water, sometimes we don’t.When it is not available, we have to buy it from outside and use less.”

Speaking about the inadequate supply of water tankers, Gajendra Pratap Singh, another local, said, “The tanker comes to our area, but it is only half full because the other half needs to be delivered somewhere else, and this For half, we stand in line since morning." Morning."

The frustration is palpable among residents, who jostle for their share as the tanker arrives.

Expressing concern about the problems faced by them, Neelam, another local, said, “We don’t even have water to drink.Every day, people are struggling for water and thousands are waiting in line for three to four hours, but the demand has been met."

“Many of them do not get water even after standing in queues with pipes and buckets,” he said.

Sabnam, another local, expressed similar sentiments and said, "Thousands of people are waiting for half a tanker of water".

He said, “We have been standing in the queue since 3 am, but there is no water for anyone.,

Many people are also taking help of social media to complain about the water problem in their areas.

Nitish Singh, a banker based in South Delhi, tagged the government in his post on X, highlighting the seriousness of the crisis. He wrote, “Dear Sir, I am from Jawahar Park, Khanpur, South Delhi. We are facing water supply crisis, not even getting tanker to survive. It is very painful.We regularly call the concerned personnel of DJB, but they are not listening. This is forcing my community and many families to leave Delhi."

Delhi BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP government of corruption, accusing it of mismanagement and wastage of water.

Sachdeva claimed, “Haryana is providing water, but by the time it reaches Delhi, 53 percent of the water gets wasted due to mismanagement.”

The BJP leader said the government knows that Delhi faces such issues during the summer season and asked why it did not come up with a summer action plan to address the issue.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the Center and the BJP to urge the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to help meet Delhi's water demand."The entire country is experiencing unprecedented heat, leading to water and power crisis.
