Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Saturday expressed grief over the death of a soldier martyred in an encounter in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh and said that the state government is fully prepared to eliminate Naxalites from Chhattisgarh.

At least eight Naxalites have been killed in an encounter between Naxalites and security forces today in the forests of Abujhmad in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai posted on X, "There is news of 8 Naxalites being killed in an encounter with security forces between Farsbera-Dhurbera under Orchha police station of Narayanpur district." There is also sad news of martyrdom of one STF jawan and martyrdom of two soldiers. The soldiers injured in the encounter are being immediately taken to Raipur for treatment. I pray to God for the peace of the souls of the killed soldiers and speedy recovery of the injured soldiers. Our government is fully prepared to eliminate them and we will not remain silent until the goal is achieved.

According to officials, an encounter is going on between Naxalites and security forces for the last two days.

"One jawan lost his life while two were injured in the line of duty," he said.

According to officials, Narayanpur-Kondagaon-Kanker-Dantewada District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and 53rd battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are involved in the operation.Officials believe that a large number of other Naxalites have also been injured in the encounter. Security forces have started a search operation in the area.

The encounter took place in Kutul, Farashbeda and Kodtameda areas of Abujhmad forests.

Earlier today, security forces had recovered a series IED bomb of 30-30 kg explosive and 1 cooker bomb in Bijapur.

This was a joint operation of the district force and the bomb disposal squad of 231 BN CRPF.

Earlier on June 8, six Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bastar, Chhattisgarh.
