Colombo [Sri Lanka], Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Thursday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Spinner Waninda Hasaranga will lead the Sri Lankan team in the upcoming ICC event and batting all-rounder Charith Asalanka will be Hasaranga's deputy. Experienced cricketers Angelo Mathews and Dhananjay de Silva have also been included in the team. While fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana, who suffered a hamstring injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, has also been added. However, with Asitha Fernando, Vijayakanth Vyaskanth, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Janith Liyanage having been added as the team's traveling reserves, SLC have selected several all-rounders in the squad.
