Stating that from the time of the first Sikh settlers in 1911 to the significant migration of Sikhs in the 1950s, he said Sikhs have made huge contributions in various walks of life to become the fourth largest religious group in Britain.

“It is a matter of great pride for the Sikh community across the world that 10 members of the community have been elected as MPs. I am Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, Preet Kaur Gill, Kirith Entwistle, Gurinder Singh Joson, Jas Atwal, Dr. Hearty congratulations to Jeevan Sandher, Satveer Kaur and Sonia Kaur Kumar for their spectacular victory in the recent elections in the United Kingdom.

Badal said the mandate has given Sikh MPs an opportunity to create awareness about the community and put a complete stop to hate crimes against members of the community.

He said the UK has taken several steps, including celebrating National Sikh Awareness and Heritage Month, but more needs to be done to make people aware of Sikhism around the world.

"This can be done through public dialogues and spreading awareness about Sikhism as well as its principles," he said.
