Shimla: BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh Kangana Ranu on Tuesday termed her Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh as a "spoilt prince" and said perhaps her mother did not teach her to respect women.

Singh, a Himachal Pradesh minister, is the son of six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh, sitting MP from Mandi and state unit president of Congress. He is the titular king of the erstwhile principality of Bushehr.

At an election meeting, actor-politician Ranaut claimed that Vikramaditya Singh had said that "the temples I visited will have to be purified".

He said, “I have the blessings of people and Gods and Goddesses. The election results on June 4 will reveal who has the blessings of the Gods and Goddesses."

Ranaut, who has been involved in several controversies with Singh, said, "'Bigde Shehzada' (spoilt prince) does not know what respecting women means. Maybe his mother Pratibha Singh did not teach him to respect women."

Expressing confidence that Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister for the third consecutive time, he said, "Congress will not be able to win even 50 seats and the INDI block's dream of having five Prime Ministers in five years will be shattered."

On the other hand, Singh stressed that after the elections, India Bloc will form the government at the Center and Mandi will be made a smart city.Addressing several election rallies in Mandi town, he said his father Virbhadra Singh had given central zone status to Mandi and had "gifted" the region like IIT-Mandi and a medical college.

The Congress candidate also said that his mother Pratibha Singh also gave impetus to the development works in this parliamentary constituency.

"As PWD minister, I got Rs 3,560 crore sanctioned from the Center for maintenance and construction of roads in the state. My priority will be the construction of Jalori Jot and Bhugu Jot tunnels and strengthening the ROA network," he said.

Voting will be held on four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh on June 1, while by-elections will be held simultaneously on six assembly seats vacant after the disqualification of Congress MLAs.
