Rampur (UP): Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan's wife Tazeen Fatima was released from Rampur district jail on Wednesday after getting bail from the Allahabad High Court last week.

On May 24, the Allahabad High Court had granted bail to Azam Khan, his wife Fatima and son Abdullah Azam Khan in the fake birth certificate case.

A Rampur court had convicted three members of the family of forgery.

However, Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam Khan will still have to remain behind bars, with several other cases pending against them.

Fatima was in jail since October 28 last year after she was convicted by the Lok Adalat.

Rampur Sessions Court had sentenced Abdullah to seven years' imprisonment in the forgery case related to his birth certificate.

The case dates back to January 3, 2019, when Akash Saxena, now BJ MLA from Rampur, had filed a complaint alleging that Azam Khan and his wife had made two birth certificates for their son.

Subsequently, the court booked the trio under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document). Found guilty.

Since the conviction, 10-time MLA Azam Khan, who was also elected as M from Rampur, is lodged in Sitapur jail. Abdullah Azam is in Hardoi jail while Fatima was in Rampur jail.

Speaking to reporters, Fatima said, "Injustice has been defeated and the court has kept justice alive."

When asked about husband Azam Khan and son Abdullah, Fatima said, 'We were convicted under a well-planned conspiracy, with complaints from the police, government and even the media that she did not investigate the case. raised.'

Describing her release as 'the beginning of justice', Fatima said she wanted to tell her supporters that ultimately the truth will prevail.
