Fatehpur (UP), BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday said the Samajwadi Party is not in favor of reservation and called on people to "punish" the party for scrapping quota in promotion in government jobs in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing an election rally here, Mayawati said that SP has always been against giving reservation to Dalits and tribals.

"SP's previous Akhilesh Yadav government completely stopped reservation in promotions for government employees belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category. Now, how is he (Akhilesh) saying that he is in favor of reservation?" The Bahujan Samaj Party chief said.

In 2012, the SP government had repealed a law on reservation in job promotions after a Supreme Court order upheld the High Court's verdict on the matter.In 2007, the previous BSP government had decided to implement quota for SC/ST in recruitment as well as promotion.

"Voting for a party which has been against giving reservation to Dalits and tribals from the very beginning also means that you are not punishing such parties as per the Indian Constitution. It is very important to punish them. You have to respect their Shouldn't vote for." candidates in the elections,” said Mr.Accusing the BJP of following "wrong policies" like the Congress, the former UP chief minister said due to the "casteist, capitalist and communal policies" of the party and its allies, the ruling party will not be able to win the Lok Sabha elections. He said, "Due to the wrong policies of the BJP government, the country's economy is being adversely affected. Poverty, unemployment and inflation are continuously increasing under the BJP government. Corruption has still not ended in the country.,

He said that Congress, BJP and their allies should not be allowed to come to power at the Centre.

Mayawati also said that the condition of Muslims and other religious minorities in the country is very bad.

He said, "The Sachar Committee report shows this. With BJ and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in power at the Center and most of the states for the last few years, their development has almost stopped. Atrocities against them due to Hindutva have also reached their peak. Has gone." Said.If BSP gets a chance to form the government at the Centre, then it will work for every section of the society by making such policies which will benefit all the people.
