New Delhi [India], Former batsman AB de Villiers is proud of the South Africa team as they defeated Afghanistan to reach the T20 World Cup final and said it is a special gift to his iconic fast bowler Dale Steyn on his birthday.

South Africa finally broke the semi-final dilemma and reached their first final of an ICC tournament. They achieved the target within nine overs by restricting the Rashid Khan-led team to 56 runs.

"Well done Proteas, you have done us all proud. Onwards and upwards. Never reached a World Cup final, so new territory for all of us. As fans, we are behind you guys, and we look forward to seeing it Can't wait for you to play that final,” de Villiers said in a video posted on his X channel. This is a very special gift from you to Stan on his birthday."

The 40-year-old, who established himself as Mr 360 Degree, backed the South African team to do everything possible and lift the trophy.

He added, "We've got your support, and we're confident you have what it takes to move forward."

Afghanistan team, which won the toss and came to bat first, collapsed for 56 runs in just 11.5 overs. The Rashid-led side recorded the lowest ever score in the history of T20 World Cup semi-finals. This is also his lowest score ever in the shortest format of the game.
