New Delhi, Auto component maker Sona BLW Precision Forgings said on Monday that it has started a new plant in Mexico.

This strategic expansion underscores the company's commitment to meet the growing demand for driveline solutions for battery electric vehicles (BEV) in North America, the company said in a statement.

It said the new facility will specialize in the production of differential assemblies and reduction gears designed for BEVs.

“This expansion reflects our unwavering commitment towards customer satisfaction and is in line with our long-term growth strategy to capitalize on the growing e-demand,” said Vikram Verma, CEO Driveline Business, Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar).

He said the Mexico facility will significantly increase the company's production capacity, as well as create numerous employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the local economy.
